Wood Carving an inspiring muskie

Painting and finishing the giant muskie head. During April 2012 this carving will be on Exhibit in Kitchener at the City Hall Southern Ontario Science and Nature Art Group.

This carving is created from layers of three quarter inch pine planks. Measures about 16 inches from the tip of the bottom jaw to the back edge of the gill cover.

JANUARY ARTSHOW IN Toronto's West End

Charles Weiss will be participating in a Group art show at the Wesburn Manor Art Gallery.
Charles has 12 ACRYLIC, WATERCOLOUR paintings AND WOOD CARVINGS ON EXHIBITION!
The gallery is located in a city of Toronto Elderly Care facility located at the corner of Burnhamthorpe and West Mall.
The opening for the exhibition is Wednesday January 18, 2012 6 -8 PM IN THE EVENING.

These are a selection of drawings I created while visiting at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. I was visiting with the Society of Science and Nature Illustrators of Ontario.It was a very informative and creative gathering.

Fourth Place finish in Pacific Salmon Stamp Art Competition

My acrylic painting  recieved a fourth place finish from the judges in Vancouver British Columbia on Wednesday Nov. 16, 2011.

This is my highest place finish in over 12 years

This painting competition has a Six Thousand dollar first place prize!

The "shaman" colour of lure was brought to my attention from Dave of Bare Bones Baits. He was commenting on it's muskie catching appeal. I couldn't resist creating a painting of a muskie about to bite a mouthful of "Shaman" coloured crankbait. I think this is a ten inch long "jake" crankbait.
The scene I'm trying to create is an underwater weedline edge. The lure has been cast or trolled along this edge. A dramatic moment with a sudden burst of speed.The large muskie has bit the lure as it was racing by.
